Walhalla fire status

Tue 05 Feb, 2019 11:30 pm

Has anyone heard how Walhalla has been affected by the bushfires? I am over in the west and have walked in and out of Walhalla on the AAWT and would like to know how it is going,
Regards
Don

The recent fire burnt out one cottage in Walhalla, from what I have heard it was at the west end of town. The rest of the town was saved by lots of hard work and a lucky change in the weather. Maiden town to the East of Walhalla lost two cottages that I know of so far. The AAWT has been closed from Stronachs camp on the Thomson Valley road through to the Walhalla - Woodspoint road. The actual track is burnt from Eastern Weir to about 800m north of Mount Easton.

It snowed yesterday at Baw Baw and there are fire alerts for the adjoining areas.
