Gorge Falls Tallebudgera Valley

Postby hbroadbent » Thu 01 May, 2014 4:42 pm

Just finished the eastern peak of the cougals today and was wondering how to find the gorge falls in Tallebudgera Valley. If someone could give me some directions that would be great.

Very interested in heading down to gorge falls- tallebudgera. I am aware no one has posted in this forum in years, but was hoping someone could provide me with a little direction. I have seen the 1970's Heybob article, but was wondering where the track starts and more specific detail from someone who has been there more recently? thanks so much in advance

Hello Kirabilly,

It is a very easy find and a relatively short walk to Gorge Falls.

Drive to the very end of Tallebudgera Creek Road.
Walk through the gate (was marked as private property last time I was there but may have changed).
Follow the track. Once you come to the THIRD main creek crossing, heading directly upstream following Tallebudgera Creek.
After about 20-30 minutes of rock hopping you will reach a fork in the creek.
Take the left fork and a few hundred meters up-stream you will reach Gorge Falls.

I am happy to tag along and show you the way if you wish.

Thanks,
dis.

Hi there,
I tried to do this yesterday as I was down that way.
Very beautiful area and very damp and overcast.
Is it My Cougal off to the left when driving to the end of the road?
I made it through the third creek crossing with a 30l pack and tripod and camera and slippery sneakers.
But then I had to stop because there was a rock pool that didn't appear to have any way around safely.
I contemplated taking my shoes off and walking through but was mindful of parking in the no stand zone from 4-6 where my car was parked.

Very keen to go back better prepared.
Some of the rock hopping before the rock pool was very slippery so I did have a slip and luckily only lost some skin instead of a sprained or broken wrist.

Hey foto,

Good to hear you gave it a crack. I always pass that rock pool on the right - it usually only involves a step or two in the water. Definitely is a beautiful area.
