Iron Range Nat Park

Postby damodamod » Tue 28 Oct, 2014 5:01 pm

Does anyone have any knowledge of walking in Iron Range Nat park? I am interested in the area after reading of Edmund Kennedys failed Cape York expedition. I would like to visit some of the same areas and I should be passing through the area along the coast in the wet season.

Kennedy Hill just north of the Pascoe river seems obvious choice for a visit. But there aren't any obvious points of interest in the main park section to the south. There are a couple of touristy short walks though.

Anyone got any experience of the area?

recently asked someone about that place, it has been on my list forever, she was there with a scientific research team, apparently there are quite a few culturally significant and restricted sites there. It seams mainly an "off track" walking place, so might be a good idea to inquire with local ppl. Would love to hear more about it.
