Overnight hike near Brisbane

Postby liv » Mon 11 Sep, 2017 8:19 pm

Hi there, I am new to Brisbane and am looking for a few good overnight hikes that could be done in a weekend. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

In particular are there any loops so I can leave the car in the one spot?

Also need to be 2WD accessible!

Thanks
Liv

To feed your curiosity, there's a couple of local guides to track down in you local library or online...
Take a walk in south east Queensland, Secrets of the scenic rim & the Bushpeoples guide to bushwalking in south east Queensland.

Hi Liv,

There's the Aquila Loop up in Brisbane Forest Park, it takes in the Northbrook and England Creek campsites. Last time I was there there were a few mountain bikers camping at England Creek. Its a steep circuit but plenty of great views!

http://www.npsr.qld.gov.au/parks/

The link above should help you out, they've even updated it a bit with a new 'Exciting news link'...you can zoom in for car camping sites, remote camps, tracks & NP info & pics, even glimpse the local Ranger looking after that area. Ranger Greg for Lamington, Ranger Steve for the Main Range & Ranger Jolene for Girraween.

...but if your looking at 'off track' overnighters. Pm me.

You could head up Peasant's Ridge on Mt Barney and spend the night at Rum Jungle! It's a good hike and sunrise on Mt Barney is superb!
