A Day on the Heysen Trail, the Warren Bonython Memorial Walk

Postby jez_au » Thu 11 Apr, 2013 11:46 pm

Hi all. A shameless promotion.

The Friends of the Heysen Trail and six other bushwalking clubs are walking the entire 1200 km Heysen Trail over a single day, in October this year, as a tribute to Warren Bonython. As many as you may know, he died in April 2012. He was a great believer in challenging himself in the outdoors: walking the Simpson Desert, walking Lake Eyre, walking the length of the Flinders Ranges and proposing the iconic Heysen Trail. His exploits inspired generations of bushwalkers and the walking community.

We're launching the event this Sunday at the Take A Walk event at Elder Park. We'll have an art installation to launch the event.

The trail has been divided into 60 sections. The walk is open to all people.
