Postby Overlandman » Thu 07 May, 2015 9:25 am

From ABC

An elderly hiker has remained missing overnight at Wilpena Pound in South Australia's Flinders Ranges.

The 76-year-old man was last seen at 11:00am on Wednesday near the Wangara Lookout wearing a blue zip-up cotton jumper, grey tracksuit pants and a straw hat.

A police helicopter started searching the area in the evening with the assistance of park rangers and local State Emergency Service and CFS volunteers.

Police said they would resume searching this morning.

STAR Group officers will coordinate the search.

Reports are he managed to come out in pretty good shape after spending a cold night without shelter. Just goes to show how essential a good safari suit with socks and sandals is in the wilderness.
