(Very) short overnight trips around Adelaide

Postby qvack » Tue 13 Oct, 2015 4:26 pm

Hi Folks,

Was hoping some of the good people around here might have some suggestions for me -

So I used to do a bit of hiking with my partner, but a chronic illness has gotten in the way of that in the last couple of years. We'd like to start up again, but the big problem is that walks over a few kilometres just aren't possible due to the illness.

We always had a different experience with campsites which aren't accessible by road, since they're generally used less, and the people who do use them aren't as disruptive as your average 4wd camper.

Does anyone have any suggestions about possible destinations? My first thoughts were the heysen trail running through Mt. Crawford, as there's a couple of huts which are relatively close to the road.

Eagle Waterhole in Deep Ck CP? It is a Heysen Trail hut and has a water tank. Walkers only but just a couple of km from the car park. You can walk to Aaron Ck cove from there.

Cheers, thanks. Hadn't clicked to me how close that one was to the road.

Even then while we're starting out that's about the longest that I'd consider until we get a better idea of what we're capable of.

I'm pretty sure you can't car camp at this one but is close to a road.
