My Pro-Mountain Walk

Hi all. I reckon walking from Hobart city to the summit of kunanyi/Mt Wellington is much under-appreciated. And when we don't appreciate things, they can be threatened or harmed more easily.

I did my "City to Summit" walk on the same day as the Florentine World Heritage Rally. As much as I wanted to be there, I chose my own protest walk, in celebration of the mountain, and in opposition to the proposed Mt Wellington Cable Car. I've been posting the story here progressively, and have now completed the 5-part tale on my blog. http://www.naturescribe.com/2014/05/from-city-to-summit-5-generations.html

The walk involved three generations of my family - including my granddaughter on the final section. I hope you enjoy reading; and maybe try the walk yourself some day.

cheers

Peter
