Highlining Geryon.

Fri 11 Mar, 2016 5:59 pm

On a recent visit to Pine Valley we shared the ferry ride to Narcissus with a group of Europeans heading up the range for a relaxing bit of highlining ( tightrope walking by another name ).
Apparently these guys had already been down to the Tasman Peninsula and were off to Frenchmans Cap after Pine Valley to test their luck there.
I haven't seen any footage of the Peninsula or Frenchmans Cap but some a video of their escapades highlining Geryon's gun sight has been posted on Vimeo.
I hope this link works;

If this doesn't get you there search for, "The Book of Laughter and Forgetting" on Vimeo.

It's not a Du Cane Traverse route I would recommend and definitely goes off track a bit !!

Cool! The footage from their drone is nice - pity there is not more of it. (And its not tightrope walking, but rather slacklining and if done high up - highlining. Tape is used rather than a rope).

The highlining is obviously fun to do, but I'm not a fan of drones being used. I go to places like that for a bit of peace and quiet.

At least the rigging appears to have been done using only slings etc. Get worried when they come back with a bolt kit.

That's crazy. I was up on Geryon last weekend and someone was telling me about this. Didn't know there was a video though!

That's certainly taking things to a whole new level, I'm scared witless just watching the vid

I'm so glad the guy had a safety line attached. :)
