Seeking recent info about Loyetea Peak ?

Postby Smurphette » Sat 21 Oct, 2017 2:59 pm

Just wondering if anyone has been up there recently?

I'm struggling to find any info on the condition of the road & track..

Hey.

We were up there 5 or 6 years ago, with a good (or a determined man in a subaru forester) 4wd I think we managed to drive within a few hundred metres of the top. I cant imagine the road has gotten any better in that time so i'd expect a short walk at least.
Nothing to see here.

I recall making it to within a 20 minute walk due to a fallen tree. Road was pretty rutted out, so unless you have reasonable clearance, be prepared to walk a bit further. I doubt the road will have been cleared in the last couple of years.

Thanks for your replies!

I finally headed up there today, didn't make it very far past the turn off before I had to park and walk the remaining 1.5km or so.. A better vehicle might make it up but it was too much for my little Rav4 :P

Turned out to be a good walk with worthwhile views at the end :)
