In March this year, my partner and I bought plane tickets to Hobart, planning to hike the Arthurs. We soon realized that the trail was closed due to fire damage, so, with two weeks to spend, we started looking for other hiking options. We were lucky to receive plenty of suggestions on this forum, for which we are very grateful. We decided to hike the Southern Ranges and then spend a couple of days in the Du Cane Range. We teamed up with Lesley who was looking for hiking companions here - we hiked both trails together.
We won't easily forget the bushes in the Southern Ranges... but we had a fantastic time and greatly enjoyed the views. What a magnificent mountain the PB is!! The Du Cane Range was also splendid and we wish we had more time to spend in that area.
