So after a night off we set out out into some "Tasmanian" weather of rain from Ronny Creek up the Horse Track. On the walk up the track was running like a river and then the rain turned to sleep and snow. The duckboarding was wet and icy- I managed to slip over landing on my elbow and feeling something ominous in my shoulder give. I lay there in the water for a bit self assessing and was quite suprised that everything felt relatively intact so we got to Kitchen Hut for a hot milo and nurofen! It was sleet/snowing and then hailing with cold gusty wind on the walk out to Waterfall Valley Hut but beautiful none the less. We were glad to have a nice hut to stay in and there were about 13 Overlanders there that night plus a couple of other girls doing a similar circuit to us but in reverese.
Next morning awoke to a white snowy wonderland- twas awesome! By the way have I mentioned my new love affair with my brand spanking new WM Apache sleeping bag- oh so puffy & oh so toasty
I am a cold sleeper & normally have a hard time staying warm but not in that baby!!!
So we set off up thru the snow and spent ages taking photos. We had intended to climb Barn Bluff but decided it would have to wait. The walk was fun and we were glad of having a hiking stick to poke out a path and prevent "some" icy spashes into the hiding pools beneath the snow
Scott-Kilvertt was lovely- another terrific haven although the weather was much brighter now. We shared the place with an old fella who is doing the Abels (hat off to him- I think he walks twice as fast and far as us!!) and a young couple camping. Also some lovely pademelons and a wombat.
Day 3 and we were off to Dove Lake via Twisted Tarns- beautiful once again with a lovely display of wildflowers. So we had made it! Well that is where the fun began.... as I attemted to climb into the back of the shuttle bus with my pack on my should gave way & I fell out the back staight onto my backpack (luckily). Oocchhh
Seems to be a bit of a rotator cuff tear- not amused. But movement is improving....... so hopefully not as bad as initially felt. So no video footage of the fall.....
