Hi I did the 30 kms + Lake Manimahesh trek last month. I am back now. It starts in Hadsa at 2200 M and leads up to Lake ManiMahesh, a small pond at 4130 M high in the Manimahesh Kailash/Pir Panjal range of the Indian Himalaya. That was my first Indian high altitude trek. Because of the oxygen shortage It was physically tough but well worth it. I hired two porters and a guide from Anna Travels in Bharmour in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. I can recommend their services whole heartedly . I will go back to Northern India in about two years and do the Gangotri glacier trek in Uttarakhand and head up to the meadow at Tapovan( 4600 M). I wouldn't bother with the rest of India. I have been all over India 6 times and the Himalaya is the best bit.
