Hi Folks,
I keep a blog about all my hiking adventures and here is my most recent one on the Routeburn in January.
https://maketrails.wordpress.com/2016/03/04/routeburn-track-fiordland-new-zealand/

A friend and I did the walk in 2 days (couldn't evenly space it due to huts being full) and had a fantastic time! I continued onto the Caples Track which I'll post about in the future.

Being able to walk with thongs? Throwing out all the arguments for high tech gears...

Lovely report and thanks. One day! :)

Thanks folks, yeh despite the misty rain on the 2nd day it was still beautiful.
There was really no other option, it was thongs or barefoot haha.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Ditch the boots and wear trail runners or runners. On a trail as good as the Routeburn this should not be an issue and will keep you blister free.

Shouldn't this thread be in the New Zealand sub folder?

Can you tell me where the routeburn meets up with the Capels track. I can't find it on googlemaps.

Also how many days did it take you to do the whole circuit? I would be more interested in the route if i can do the circuit i think. Do you have to book the caples route as well?

Hey Stroller, I put it in here because it's a trip report.
I didn't do the whole circuit however the suggested time for the Greenstone & Caples circuit is 3 nights/4 days. You do not need to book the Caples.
