I know that area well . Your trip is/was Amazing , especially sunrise in full snow over the Crosscut saw and sunny weather in snow on Mt Howitt. I day dream about doing that one day. Congratulations, well done. You both rock ! :)
What kind of sick units would vandalize the Gantner hut? :shock:

Reading this again I think I would be more inclined to attempt this on BC XC touring skis with microspikes in the pack , and perhaps even with snow shoes strapped to the pack in case of a ski binding failure.

Skiing it would be easier I might ski out to Howitt this year. Forget the micro spikes and go straight to crampons.
