Melbourne, Yea, Mansfield, Tolmie, Beechford, Wodonga, Kancoban, Thredbo, Canberra, Batemans Bay, Wollongong, Sydney, Central Coast, Newie. I averaged 25km/day but had some +40km days, 47kms being the longest day walking across to Cudgewa.
I really enjoyed it, except the days over 35 degrees when the radient road heat measured between 50 and 60 degrees C.
Next time I will be crossing from Bruthen to Omeo to Benalla after a quick visit to Jindy via Canberra then back down to Bombala and Cann Rv but that is simply to get to more regional communities

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for your posts, I will be sure to update you very soon. The facebook page and main page will be updated asap and will definitely explain what caused me to postpone the walk.

Kindest regards,

Shantell

A more 'scenic' through-hike would be fantastic. A bit like the Bicentennial Track up the Great Eastern Divide, sections of which that a couple of friends did on horseback and packhorses at the time
The longest I have spent out on horses was about 10 days, but we had backup with a cooktruck (in the NT)

We can learn a lot from crayons. They come in different shapes and colours, but they all have to live in the same box

Hey guys,

I am planning to walk the same route from Melbourne to Sydney in November, in really early planning/training stage and I came across this old forum.

If possible, I would love to hear how it all went and any advice you could offer in regards to the walk, route, food & water, wwoofing etc.

My email is callum.mayhook at gmail.com be in touch :)

These days you need an escort/safety vehicle and permits to walk along motorways and some of the major highways. Melbourne to Sydney don't often permit walkers, even for a quick 8km link between towns to cross the highway. Open Google maps and you will see the pedestrian free roads highlighted in bold lime green.
