Driving from Mt Skene-Walhalla via Fiddlers Green, Aberfeldy

Postby stellar » Wed 04 Nov, 2015 11:45 am

Hi all,

I'm doing food drops for the AAWT and want to know if anyone has recently been on the roads from Mt Skene to Walhalla via Fiddler's Green and Aberfeldy. We have a 2013 4x4 ute but no recovery gear. Standard logging roads or anything more serious? Google satellite seems to show that these roads follow the ridges. Food drops will be at Rumpff Saddle and Fiddler's Green (to keep packs below 13kgs).

Also, any improvements at Black River since the start of the year?

Cheers

That road was an easy 2wd track every time I've been on it, but I haven't been on it for a few years.

I'd be surprised if your 4x4 ute would have any trouble.

Jam-Licola rd, South rd, Mt Selma rd and Walhalla rd to Aberfeldy were all in excellent condition in Feb this year.

I drove Jamieson to Mt Skene a few weeks ago to put a drop in at Rumpff Saddle - easy 2WD drive (but a bit naughty as it didn't officially open until last week - apologies Parks)
