Places to Hang - S/E QLD

Postby Thatoutdoorsyguy » Thu 24 Mar, 2016 7:32 pm

A thread for the hammock hangers out there...

I have been searching the forum for insights into the best places to hang in S/E QLD with not much luck. So I thought I would start a thread where we could all share Intel on great places to hang.

I understand there are a few Pages on FB, however I am not on FB and don't really intend on joining up. Unless I absolutely have to.

Thank you in advance for your input...

I usually just fire up the tab or laptop,
google earth the area I'm interested in to death,
search for walking info if there is any, download a map, print the parts I need then go for exploratory mooch. :D

Just to get the juices flowing here's a couple of my favourites. Most are off track

They are some gorgeous images ofuros.

Drop Bear, great thing about hammocks is you can hang just about anywhere - in most country it is much easier to find a suitable site than for a tent. Perfect for exploring places you are unsure of - as you can camp just about anywhere along the route. Ofuros's photos do show how you can hang in some wonderful places that no other camp would work. I can't think of too many places in SEQ where you might want to walk that you wouldn't easily find a spot for the hammock - maybe a couple of mountain tops (you'd get by but the trees are a bit small to hang properly).

Thanks fellas...
Also, most National Parks & State Forests have camp areas with tree's to hang from
....just do the right thing & use wide straps that don't damage them,
for our future use & their future growth.
