Bit Of History

Postby Darren » Mon 15 Jun, 2009 7:44 pm

G'Day
Two of the many things im into are bushwalking and history. Ocasionally i combine the two.
I picked up this the other day. It was written in 1967, only a couple of years before i was born. How things have changed compared to the copy i have from about 5 years ago. It was first published in 1938. Maybe one day ill find a copy.

G'day Darren,
found a Hunting & Shooting magazine from the 60's
a couple of years back with an article on how to stalk, shoot
& prepare Wedge Tailed Eagles. Sad world isn't it.
Cheers Jason...

Dont be sad mate, When i read things like 'How to waterproof you japara using parrafin' it makes me feel a bit soft these days. No doubt in 40 years there will be people looking back at what we are doing now and thinking , "Boy they did it tough back then...."

Hi Darren,

It was first published in 1938

My 1985 Paddy's Bushwalking and Camping edition has 1933 as its first published date.

Here is another bit of bushwalking history - a Tasmanian classic that was published in 1950. I purchased this third edition dated 1964 from Allgoods in Launceston in 1970 on my way to see the original Lake Pedder.
