Cold enough that last night's snow is still sitting on foliage quite low down in the Upper Yarra MD :)

If this lot pulls enough heat out of the ground, the next falls should stick and last well higher up !

I reckon July is looking good for you - fingers crossed :D

First day skiing.jpg
First day this season with the skis on
Snowed at home a couple of times but did not lay. Took a drive up the hill and managed to get the skis on for a little bit. Needs to be a little deeper but we were pressed for time and did not get past 1500m. Should be good cover on BHP but nothing more overnight. Super cold temps the rest of the week with the next dump due around Thurs and Frid which should add a nice top the the base.

BHP road near Trapyard Gap. If you look close enough down the funnel of the road in this pic you will see the gate closed. At present my 4wd is out of action so we got there in the SUV AWD without AT tyres. I probably would not go up there again in this vehicle unless there is a melt or I would park a bit further back and walk. Snow was laying on the road for quite a way before the gate and while fresh it is fine but once it has frozen it is very dangerous without proper tyres and maybe chains. Quite a bit of sun today and much of the low stuff in the trees we saw earlier has gone so I suspect the road on the lower parts will be melting as well. We can see up to Cope saddle area/aqueduct and it has good cover with snow low down the valley. Bogong also will have a nice layer. Those young guys heading to Feathertop in a week or so should be in for a good time if the top up comes at the end of next week.

Not so. Last Thursday night and early Friday morning and it came down quite low. It could still do with a bit more on top though on the lower altitudes.
