Is it true you can't drive past Falls Creek until October? I'd like to visit Wallace and Cope Huts next week but according to the guidebook I have this can't be done. Can anyone confirm?

Go to VicRoads traffic and you will see the Bogong High Plains Rd closed at Falls Creek and Trapyard Gap. It should be open by the end of October but has sometimes stayed closed until Melbourne Cup weekend. After the ski season is over they will clear the road of snow and trees then they like it to dry out a little before vehicle travel on it because they did such a cheap job of sealing it. That was a council job not VicRoads. Wallaces hut is about 10km from Falls on the road.
