Thanks Son of a Beach
Glad you liked it - and the plug.
It is a good App - have used it a lot.
I still carry paper maps, but have not pulled one out of my pack for many years. I hardly ever use the GPS (as the phone is often in airplane mode), just use it as a paper map.

Thank you to the team for another useful and superbly produced collection of articles and photographs.

I have a question for Caro Ryan regarding her excellent article on food dehydration, so I will ask on the forum in the Bush Tucker topic and hope she or someone else can supply an answer.

The photograph of Myles Dunphy is a good advertisement for Aarn packs!

Glad you enjoyed it.
We were planning the next edition last night and talking about the need to make article a bit more intereactive and allow linking to forums and encourage people to keep the conversation going. I think the idea of posting in Bush Tucker is a great idea (Send Lotsafreshair a PM and let her know about the post once you have done it)

Hey Matt,

Another great volume... kept me entertained on a recent flight. :)

Interesting to see the top walks in each state, makes a good spot to start when trying to decide what interstate walks to do. Shame that most of the states only had a few votes... it might have been easier to get a good consensus of of these if you asked everyone to list their favourite 3 walks in each state, rather than just the best overall. I imagine that many walkers in NSW, for example, would have a good idea of the best walks in neighbouring states, even if they only listed walks from NSW as their favourite overall.

Cheers,
Munch

Thanks Munch

Glad you enjoyed it. It is a good suggestion for the next survey.
I am actually wondering if there is a potential series for further editions focusing on each state. Eg a best of SA edition and give us a chance to go into more detail.
One year into this emag thing and still learning lots. Thanks again.
Thanks again
Matt :)

Nice edition Matt!

On the best walks, I notice the Larapinta is quoted as 110km/6 days. It's not very clear that the 110km is actually a shortening of the whole 223km trail. I guess people will work that out when they get to the Larapinta website though.

Yeah we had this issue with a few of the walks - as some people where saying just a particular section of the overall track. So we did that - then went back to the overall track in the article - so it ended up clear as mud.
Still learning a lot through this process.

Thanks

Matt :)

I wouldn't mind a bushwalk.com tag - how many grammes is it? HAHA. Where do we get one and how much are they posted?

There's a like to the shop at the top of the page. Right hand side. Presumably they will be in there.

I want one that reads "Bugger off, I'm crazy!"

Great article NNW -- thanks for sharing such a personal story. I am sure it will help many people. It is easy to think we are invincible, but when someone experienced in our community comes unstuck we all have to stop and think.

I will have an item in the "shop" later today. A bit behind on real work at the moment --

Yeah, that was interesting. Didn't realise they'd checked on them earlier due to Spot signal problems. Also loved the reference to the Breminator's adventure. ;)

I really should have added something in that article about how good these people are. Josh was part of the crew that got me out of the Eldons (fortunately a completely different mob at Tungatinah). If anyone is ever in the position of having to do what I did, rest assured you'll be in the best possible hands.

Hi NNW -- We can always do another article :)

Thanks eggs - agree. Great to read about the 'other side' of events like this. Hope it makes us better walkers.

Suz -- you can test the tag buying process. I have got it up on the store now.
