Hi Robertoman
Thanks for the suggestion. Sorry I am a bit slow, Are you suggesting we add a list of interesting/popular topics from the forum? or a list of new people to the forum? Maybe you could give me a quick example.
Thanks
Matt

I think he means a space on the tag to write your name- eg "Lizzy" so others recognise you

exactly !! I pass so may walkers and wonder " have we been swapping chats online and can I ask them a question ?"

Ahh yes got it -- stupid me
- I was thinking you wanted something in the magazine
Yes there room above and below the icon to write a name. plenty of space. A permanent marker seems to work (smudged a little with me, it is a very glossy finish). I did the highgloss to try to keep it clean. But I think the pen will work.
Getting the names on it at printing would be the best, but I assume that would end up costing a fortune, I will ask if we do another run.

Hehe -- I almost wrote name hear
Writing the names is a great idea - I often wonder the same thing when I meet people on the track.

I ordered some tags but Im not putting my name on them
Thu 04 Jun, 2015 11:14 am
Matt, if ordering as suggested above, it's important to note that not many people are called "Name Here". Or "Name Hear" for that matter.

Hum good point. Maybe to keep it easy we can just change everyones handle on Bushwalk.com to "Name here" it would save a lot of hassle

I'd rather be "naim hear". Just to be different. And difficult . . .

Cheers mate. The ministers press release is a load of unsubstantiated, effortless bunkum. Why sully good efforts with such meaningless tripe.

Hi Nuts
Thanks for that - Glad you like the rest. I didn't think his stuff was that bad, i actually thought it was good. I am keen to hear what ministers think about bushwalking (and the environment), and give them a voice. Even if I thought it was crap I would still want to share it. In this case I was glad they took the time to share and as a mainlander I found it interesting.
Thanks for the feedback -- appreciate it.

No Worries (though it was a like for like effort).
I see a photo-shoot, reaffirming intentions, 'qualifications'. I despise the economics but what are the figures, in fact? 'Up to' is not substantive and if the outcomes aren't fact then how can the annual return be 'Nearly'?
Does anyone (that cares.. and should matter) believe the process has included 'extensive consultation'? What is 'extensive', for instance 'stakeholders', would we (concerned citizens) not expect that included actually contacting them? Especially in the case that they may be the sole stakeholder of interest?
Above all, the vision, while commendable as being one, someOnes, seems to ignore the fact that the sheer scale of nothingness is our greatest asset?
Back in the day I worked for a camping based walking tour company taking 3/4/5 times the numbers available* to a similar service today (*white underpant visionaries of business in the public service, put up your wage to disprove?). They were taking those vision impaired, young families, octogenarians.. I consider the need for More, pandering with softer, less wild concessions, as I do the leech, opportunistic in it's short life-cycle.
(Hopefully this says nothing seen as playing the man or even, for me, his party. Not that i'm other than healthily concerned, it just wasn't my intention.)

Hi Nuts
Awesome. I love it when conversation like this happen. I think it is great and the best part of our democracy.
Would you be interested in writing an article about this of the next edition? I would be happy to work with you and approach Matthew Grooms office for the numbers and other information you want. We can then write up an article about based on that info and your experaince. The only deal is that the article needs to be about the policy (not a personal attack).
I have very little to do with politics in Tas - but have had some in NSW. I always find it helpful to ask questions and gather the info -- It always changes my understanding (usually to the better but sometimes I am shocked that it was worse then I thought).
Thanks
Matt

I'm fundamentally opposed to unnecessary and commercial developments within our WHA. Fundamentally disagree with the minister, his government, those of the past in this regard. Feel sadness at the lack of respect for intrinsic value, don't relate to other park users who seemingly can't see past their own diminished access or experience. So I have no desire to counter punch on that level for personal gain or satisfaction or (perhaps just) at this stage, and doubt the best to be achieved would be more than altered planning with a similar outcome. I'm not the only one left back questioning why Parks must turn a profit, optimistically half that of historic Forestry Subsidies, and even in the short-term what in fact such Subsidies would do for our parks (and tourism) to generate one more appropriate and respectful. Nevertheless, i'm no economist so the questions stand, imo are of public interest & I would expect a committed management team or effective opposition to find them. (Thanks)

I really enjoyed the hammock article.
Would be interested to read about more walks and parks in NSW (being the home state) … I would in particular like to read more about the Gardens of Stone and Wollemi.
Also would love more about 'unofficial' walks - like one time I read about someone's walk from the Royal NP all the way down to Mallacoota. Stuff like that would be cool.
In fact generally speaking I would really like it to be easier to research and piece together different walks. I know you have a website (I use it sometimes) - it would be awesome if that had a map of Oz with all the known walks loaded onto it - so one could visualise putting different walks together - would really reduce the research i think and figuring out of where the hell things are. AND with a feature that readers could review and rate the tracks and add their own input
AND then with a search function so that you could search by highest rating, or avoid certain terrain types ( e.g. - like stairs - i hated perrys lookdown to blue gum forest because it was 95% stairs and my knees hate that). Actually on the point of website searching, I sometimes find the wild walks website does not work (e.g. like when i search 'multi-day walks' it sort of malfunctions) - have other viewers mentioned this? Is it cos I'm using Safari? anyhow, just some ideas for the website, I'm sure it's a lot of work and don't want to harass you - but it would make it ideal to me.
Also i'd love an informative piece on off track walking - a how to guide for beginners.
sorry matt, that was a bit more than you asked for.

Only just realised this new edition was published. Allthough I absolutely love visiting and walking in Tassie and other states, I'm probably somewhat biased to my home state of NSW, so really enjoying this edition. It has many of the places I know well and visit often, with other possibilities that have piqued my interest or those I'm reminded to re-explore after a long absence. I look forward to reading it in more depth. Well done Matt and team!

Hi wildwalks
I think I normally get this newsletter on my registered email address - and enjoy reading every issue!
I don't think I got this one on email, have checked my junk folder and everything.
Was there a problem with the emailing, or is this likely an issue at my end?
