Call Out for Walking Blogs

Postby TerraMer » Sat 07 Jan, 2017 3:54 pm

Hey All!
I have almost finished my 16,000km solo unaccompanied walk around Australia (for Lifeline) with only 2,900kms left to walk from Gladstone to Canberra later this year once the dry season cools off the tropics a bit.
It has evolved a lot since it started, mostly making it simpler without losing the main purpose of raising awareness about suicide prevention and fundraising for Lifeline.
Most of the walk, the last 3x4,000km legs of it have been pushing a barrow beside highways and I'm switching back to light backpacking through national parks, down beaches and along quiet country roads for the final leg. The first leg, you may remember, was a 1,250km Spring walk around Tassie with a backpack and I am looking forward to returning to my preferred walking method.
I have also permanently left facebook to invest that time and data use into the blog and am interesting in following other bloggers writing about their walks, trail notes, photo diaries, etc. I am interested in everywhere but right now I am collecting information about Fraser Island, Cooloola, Sunshine Coast Hinterland and Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walks and any NSW multi-day (through) walks conveniently located between Byron Bay, Moruya and Canberra through the divide and along the coast.
Also very open to ideas and advice off the blog platform.
My blog is https://thehappywalkblog.wordpress.com
cheers
Terra

Hi Terra,
One blog I follow is lotsafreshair.com/
Its run by a young woman who is a keen bushwalker.
Lotsafreshair is aimed at young and not so young women, but its not gender exclusive.
I read it regularly (and sometimes comment) because it is good quality and... it gets my attention when it comes through on facebook and instagram.
All the best,
Ben

Thanks Ben,
I am familiar with Caro's videos, great for beginners and giving women more confidence to get out there. Not really helpful for me, a bit basic.
Looking more for places, walks, etc.

HI Terra,
Not sure if you have read this topic but there might be some useful info viewtopic.php?f=5&t=24135

Good luck with the rest of your walk.
Sometimes, I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.
