Wild dogs

A couple of years back while walking in the Walls of Jerulsalem NP, I came across a sign asking walkers to report sightings of wild dogs to the rangers. I had no idea what wild dog referred to & imagined packs of dingoes roaming the area. While walking along, my raincoat/pants made a sound like yelping dogs & made me stop a number of times to check I wasn't being followed.

Has anyone encountered these wild dogs & are they aggressive to walkers ?

When camping at Wadleys Creek in "The Paddocks" a couple of yeas ago I heard them doing the night time howl and found out on return they had been reported in the Pelion East area.
Not come across them since thankfully

I recall my sister telling me of a jaunt through Golden Gate area in WOJ and someone pointing out some doggy evidence - but that was a couple of years back.

Thanks guys - sounds like they don't seem to be bothering anyone. Maybe they are mild dogs...

As long as they are well fed they shouldn't be much of a problem to us hopefully!

When I was up off-track walking in the Walls back in 2006 we found fair bit of evidence from them - primarily footprints. Apparently some even came across the Nevernever into the overland track area. I've been told by one of the rangers that the Alpha-male and most of the bigger ones had since been shot and there had been very few reports in recent years. I dont think they have ever bothered anyone seriously though.
