Just got back from the Cinema and glad I went to see it on the big screen. Its not really a doco, more like a lot of shots, mostly drone and plane edited together with classical music. I also found it a bit limited in the type of mountain landscapes it covered. So worth seeing but no big deal if you miss it either.
I caught this when it was touring with the Australian chamber orchestra and found it amazing, but I remember thinking it would be a little strange with just a recorded soundtrack. I think it was designed to be both a visual and musical performance, rather than just a doco with some interesting music. Regardless, it had some very nice footage!
Experienced this with the ACO live also. The ACO is a wonderful ensemble and the music was well-chosen. The audience was suitably impressed at the daring of the climbers and other thrill-seekers that was on display. However, I was irritated by Willem Dafoe's voicing of the narration (I'm going through a period of aversion to anything that seems to express American self-importance).
