Track speed records (aka FKT)

This thread is prompted by this thread viewtopic.php?f=40&t=28787

I’m interested to know why there is no record kept for the FKT of the Bib. It’s a internationally popular trail and a lot of people are interested in FKTs on other long trails.

What are the FKTs of other tracks such as the Larrapinta?

I know I’m into hiking fast. Maybe I enjoy moving along the trail more than stopping at looking at views/attractions for long periods of time.

Anyone else into fast hiking?

Not a lot of long distance stuff but my observation is that I walk much faster than most people, though slowing a bit as I get older.
Mostly fast on tracks that I know well and visit regularly, otherwise I prefer to take it a little easier and "smell the roses".
As to records for the Bibbulmun, unfortunately I haven't walked any of it as yet - a future revisit to WA is on the bucket list.
I'm thinking maybe trail running sites could have stats on FKTs for various places?

If you'd looked....

To me it looks like an ego thread.

Sorry if it seems that way... I’m just interested. Not out to toot my own horn.

I guess it’s hard to accurately display enthusiasm and stoke through a keyboard.

I'm definitely not in it for speed, and I realise I've often been ignorantly dismissive about people who are.

It's time I tried to understand. So... For Pedalroll and people who want to walk fast, what inspires you to do so? And would it matter if you were walking on a highway, or through a suburban environment, or through an agricultural landscape? If speed is a primary incentive, does the landscape you're crossing matter?

Sorry, realised I've hijacked this thread!

It's the challenge and sense of accomplishment.
We are all different and find different things stimulate us.

Just depends on which moves you closer to your goal. Whatever it is.
It's only a stumbling block when we perceive it as "wrong" or "improper", not simply as different.
It's a trait shared by many in sport/pastimes and life -the challenge of the man/woman alone, just ask any big wave or solo surfer out in the near dark alone- you are your own responsibility for a short while.

It can be ambiguous. I apologize for being so snarky.

What got me going was the obvious use of a keyboard that you seemed to have forgotten.
It took me 10 seconds to find the FKT for bibbbllmnln, and that's without even knowing how to spell it.

Similar with the others: easy to look up, fun to read about, sometimes inspiring for personal goals, but otherwise in another universe for most of us.

It's probably more to do with the name of this forum - BushWALK Australia.
Most of the FKT crowd are trailrunners rather than walkers.

I expect most members of this forum are more in the 20-30 km per day crowd rather than the 50+ km per day of the trailrunners.
