Black bluff

Postby elitekeet » Wed 15 May, 2019 2:04 pm

Hello,

Looking at climbing black bluff tomorrow, have read a few blogs on the mountain, however, just want to see everyone’s opinions on what the best access point is, roughly how many kms it is there and back and what time frame would you expect to finish the walk, have to do a fair bit of driving to get there, so just like to gather some more info.

Thanks In advance.

Shortest walking route is Brookes Track from Taylors Flats. If you don't have maps yourself, check it on ListMap. Good track, tiny little scramble on the last bit up to the trig. It's an easy day, maybe an hour and a half to Paddys, maybe 6km to Black Bluff.
Longer and slightly rougher alternative is via the Winterbrook and Eye of the Needle tracks. Still a daywalk but a good bit longer. Can be done via the PCT from Belvoir Rd, but that would be a very long day this time of year, and is a better alternative for an easy overnighter anyway.
