Above is the context for the sign that I posted yesterday. The sign is from the Eating World food court in Sydney's Chinatown.

Now here's one for today. It's from Mark Moxon's website.

Near Katoomba Falls.

This wasn't in the wilderness - it was on a train from Kraków to Warszawa in Poland. The captions are mine.

It was actually to warn against throwing your rubbish out the window.

Lost is a village in Scotland.

This toilet is at the free council campsite where the Kings Highway crosses the Shoalhaven River near Braidwood. Nice place, by the way. Why do you think people under 18 should need to be accompanied by their parents in this toilet?

It turns out there is a reason. Inside the dunny, the can is much wider than usual. A small child could easily fall down it, into a swimming pool of sh*t below, which is deep enough to be out of reach without a rope. I cannot imagine why they put up this sign, instead of affixing a seat with a narrower hole atop the can. Or the council could provide a rope and a lifering in the cubicles.

Lots of magical wildlife on the Cape Otway Road (which incidentally leads to an overpriced lighthouse).

Again, not exactly wilderness - the Oodnadatta Track.

There were heaps of others that didn't get photographed.
"DYB DYB DYB" was pretty good as was "DIP.ITTY.DOO.DAH", but the piece de resistance . . .

Again - not quite in the wilderness ... Seen on the Mereenie Loop Road in 2003 heading from Kings Canyon to Hermannsberg in the Red Centre.

The first in the place of a warning sign for a sweeping left hand bend that is a little sharper than it looks (at least at 100kph on dirt) ...



and the second to let you know it is fine to resume your previous pace ...

Ah yes, I have shots of those barrells too. They'd flashed up the signs a bit the last time I went through. Pity - there's something about the old ones . . .

Is that informative sign at KNP?

This one (unofficial???) is as uninformative as yours Snowzone but just maybe the tape bands mean more than I realise?
This is the bottom of massive washout below Cathedral Rock.

Yes have been up that washout and beyond to the top of Cathedral Rock Neil, there are a few unofficial signs such as garden mats on trees further up as well.

Yes we saw that garden mat but I didn't photograph it. We bombed out by continuing up the washout as we didn't realise it was a track mark. It would have been much nicer to contour/siddle up from the garden mat tree. The washout from that point was B! steep. According to my GPS around 50% near the very top. Very nasty

LOL! If I saw a subbing mistake like that I'd be cross. I saw a newsagent with a big sign "Stationary". Correct, the newsagent was not moving.

Whenever I see a lookout sign I always think of The Farside comic

Got to love Gary Larson. I still remember the first time we saw one of his cartoons. One of the shipwreck ones. Took half the day before I got the joke (and then had to explain it to the jerk and a couple of other mates) but he had me hooked. Especially with the diving cartoons.

There were a couple of others I didn't get photos of - Landslip Risk Area was another one of them. Must have been a special offer - buy one exclamation mark and get 10 free.

Funny how you never see big signs like this in supermarket junk food aisles or on roads and cars.....hmmmm....

I like the idea of a general 'Life Risk Area' sign. That would also be handy - Do not jump or dive in, Turn back now unless you are: fit and agile, wearing sturdy footwear, prepared to encounter loose and slippery [insert relevant noun here]....

The best sign would be one that says "You are now leaving the nanny state zone".
