Recent leather bags

Postby andrewa » Sat 20 May, 2017 10:43 pm

Having bought a half hide for making knife sheaths, I realised that I had way more leather than I needed, so made an overnight bag, and a small satchel...

Overnight bag is styled on my work doctor's bags, but upscaled - 55cm long, 50 cm high, and 28 wide - plenty for a weekend away in style.

Pictures of small satchel are as it is packed as a trial fly fishing bag for tomorrow ( hence the cable tie hangers) , but primary use was for plane travel as carry on - iPad/book/passport/specs etc. if it works as a fly fishing bag, I'll make an upgraded version.

Satchel entirely hand sewn - a slow but delightfully therapeutic process. Strip down the front of flap is just contrasting piping - aesthetics only.

A lot of work goes into those handsewn 1st time/one off's pieces.
Lovely flexible medium to work with, accuracy & attention to detail is
the key...and a leather scented workshop provides a very relaxing atmosphere to work in. 8-)
Nice work.
Mountain views are good for my soul...& getting to them is good for my waistline !

Beautiful work Andrew. Would love to see some photos of your knife sheaths too if you have any.

Travis.

Knife sheaths pretty basic...ATM they are used only to cover the blade. I'm not one who needs to carry a knife on my belt.

Once bags finished, I'll spend a bit more time on sheaths.
