Down quilt project completed

Postby andrewbish » Wed 24 Dec, 2014 9:02 pm

Due mostly to random acts of "life" this project took me 15 months to complete..and another 6 months to get around to posting on it!

Anyway, earlier this year I "knocked the *&%$#! off" (as I'm sure Sir Edmund Hillary would have said should he have taken on a interminable MYOG sewing project).

I used the quilt a number of times in the Aust Alp Range during the past Winter and it did a great job of keeping me warm.

You can read more about the project in this blog post.

Very nice! It looks super puffy and warm. What was the total down weight in the end after you added the extra? Must be quite a high fraction of the total weight given the m50 shell.

I've mostly used the Argon fabrics which are great but would like to try the momentum 50 one day to see how it compares.

Hi Mike
Not sure about the total down weight - I added the extra down until it looked about right. ~450-500gms

That has some serious loft, looks great.

The image of the cat and the bag of down was a good laugh
