Diy top quilt

Decided to have a go at making a down top quilt to replace my sleeping bag. To lighten the load.

700g
-6deg c rated but will go lower
Unique karo step design, move the down to where you need it and then it stays there.
20D strong taffeta matt finish with dwr impregantion.
1lb of down which includes 20% overstuff
Massive, 2.2m by 1.5m
Lacing foot box design,
Micro elastic cord top half to hug the shoulders and body,
Also rigged as a hammock underquilt.

Looks really fantastic! Love how it will also act as an underquilt too. The foot box lacing is certainly interesting - I haven't seen that before. Have you tried it out yet? I'm just curious if one's feet could end up getting caught in the cordage.

Where did you source your fabric and down? Extremtextil?

That is a super-cool karo step design. I could believe that it helps prevent down movement. Interested to see how it goes in the field.

That closure system is fantastic. I find the flat buckles EE use dig into me a bit. Yours would be much more comfortable, but perhaps not that easy to do up during the night once things cool down. Great work!
