Bridge hammock question

Postby Moondog55 » Tue 28 Mar, 2017 9:18 pm

How strong does the bridge tube need to be? I just broke the CF arrow I was thinking of using so obviously the Easton 5mm CF won't do. i could use an old ski pole but I don't want to waste is as it is my spare
What size do people usually use?

They need to take a bit of force MD. We sell .665 (16.8mm) poles for this purpose or some use walking poles.

Around 17/18mm OD aluminium, length of bamboo from the
garden/garden centre or a suitably sized dry branch from
the bush, I too broke a smaller diameter carbon fibre pole. [DISAPPOINTED FACE]
Mountain views are good for my soul...& getting to them is good for my waistline !

Ordinary 60** aluminium or 16mm 7***
If tent pole stuff what is a good size as it comes in 2 section lengths, 450mm or 600mm
600mm sounds a touch narrow for comfort so my assumption is that 2 off 450mm sections to give 900 wide should be OK
I could us the timber but it's naturally heavy

Not sure about material but 900 is about right width wise.

Mine are Eastern aluminium tubing 7075-79
2 piece & 870mm long, but I did buy long & cut it down to suit my hammock.

This is really annoying me; I know I have or should have anyway the poles set for the Moss Tent-Wing but I've not seen them sine the big meet and greet at Mt Franklin Thses are the big 3/4 inch Easton stuff, one 2 seticon pole and another 4 section pole I was going to use the 2 section pole as my bridge.
Actually it is going to be a hybrid bridge, gathered at the foor end and wide at the head. I found that more than adequate when I made a trial using an old bed sheet
