[FS Hobart post Aus]Feathered Friends Frontpoint down jacket

New, no tags. Only wore it inside a couple times inside, bought it at the start of the year thinking I would do lots of winter trips but fatherhood got in the way... Purchased it for US$500 + shipping, asking AU$550 ONO, your gain, my loss. Size small and grey color, pics here https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/west-ho ... 1196175787.

Note that Feathered Friends replaced this jacket a couple months ago by the Khumbu, which retails for US$600.

Crazy warm for the weight and excellent craftmanship, look out for reviews, this jacket won't disappoint.

Weight: 843g

Fill Weight: 370g

Features:

Pertex fabric

Baffled construction

Large interior stash pocket

Zippered hand warmer pockets

Zipper draft flap & lycra trim seals out drafts

Fleece lined collar

Removable hood

Down filled zipper draft tube, draw cord hem & velcro cuffs to seal out drafts

850 fill down

The Frontpoint is a mid-length, fully baffled down jacket designed for cold winter conditions and high altitude mountaineering. The cut is roomy in the torso to accomodate other layers, and extends about four inches below the waist. The detachable hood is generously filled, wrapping around the sides to cover the lower part of the face, while the stiffened brim shields against wind and snow. The hood fits over a climbing helmet perfectly. Inside you will find large cargo pockets to carry water bottles, food, or anything else you want to keep from freezing. The Frontpoint Jacket is perfect for ice climbers or expedition climbing in Alaska, South America or for winter use in the greater ranges of North America.

Haha great comment  You make wanna keep it, it's such a nice piece of gear!
I'm 1.80 for 75kg and it fits me great. Room for multiple layers, but if you only wear a shirt it's not a problem either given how puffy that jacket is the down will just fill any space. Overall true to size I would say, I am an Small in most brands

I'd love it, but the reality is its overkill for even the nuttiest stuff I do here. It'd be a preemptive buy, and it's a big investment to make for a trip I havent even contemplated yet.

It's specialty gear, for a climate that we dont have here in Aus, ever really. Nothing high enough or cold enough to warrant it, as awesome as it is. I'd look at advertising overseas - shipping will be cheap and far more demand means youre more likely to get what it's worth.

EDIT - for anyone ELSE inclined to send me PM's asking to justify why I'm saying this.... It's because these things aren't just 'another puffer jacket' - theyre one of the best alpine belay/expedition jackets on the market. Seriously seriously good kit for seriously seriously cold places. Folks from said places will likely to appreciate what a great deal this is, instead of having to accept less than it's worth because someone thinks they saw 'the same thing' at Kathmandu for $100.

I know a few forums where this would go like hotcakes...

Keen to hear about these other forums.

I agree it's an overkill in the sense than some less expensive jackets could do the job, but you can still use such jacket in Australian conditions and it's still lighter than let say the Mont Icycle! I also have an eddie bauer peak ascent XV jacket, which is even warmer and I used it a few times, being toasty warm out there is priceless.

Hey - locally you might want to try Chockstone http://www.chockstone.org/ it's pretty quiet these days but lots of lurkers who climb cold mountains overseas. If you're on Facebook - I'd also the bigger state based & nz climbing groups.
Overseas you could try backpackinglight, ukclimbing & supertopo.

Alas, far too small for me!
