[Wanted Sydney] 3x3m silpoly tarp

Wed 17 Apr, 2019 9:28 pm

Anyone got a 20 or 30d tarp not being used? I'm struggling to justify almost $300 for a tarp!

I got a 2.7m x 2.7m Tiergear Mountain Mist (Olive) that I adore but have only used once because I keep reaching for a DCF tarp I bought around the same time. Paid $228.50 (shipping included). Happy to sell for $150 seam sealed.

Tempting. I'm worried the 2.7m might not be big enough for a newbie tarper

I'd say 2.7x2.7 will be plenty. Be more wary of where you set up, ie set up on soft ground to avoid splash back, not a hard tent 'platform'.
My first tarp was a 2.4 x 3 and I'd definately think that the 3m is a bit long. You'll love tarping.

I made my own. Luckily I have a good in-house seamstress that sewed it up in about 30 mins.
The hardest part was cutting it out.

Travel Universe have the StS Escapist tarps on sale. I have the 3x3m one, very happy with it and well made.

Army hootchie. Not the size you want, and in a terrible colour, but plenty of soldiers (myself included) have slept under these in torrential rain - staying reasonably dry.

It is a cheap way to try tarping. You can also clip them together, if you buy more that one, to create a pretty large shelter.

I properly measured out 2.7 and realised I think it will be plenty big enough. Pm'd crollsurf!

Thanks everybody else for chiming in. Did some research and still think the tiergear tarp will be best!
