Light Weight Sleeping Bag?

A place to chat about gear and the philosphy of ultralight. Ultralight bushwalking or backpacking focuses on carrying the lightest and simplest kit. There is still a good focus on safety and skill.
Forum rules
Ultralight Bushwalking/backpacking is about more than just gear lists. Ultralight walkers carefully consider gear based on the environment they are entering, the weather forecast, their own skill, other people in the group. Gear and systems are tested and tweaked.
If you are new to this area then welcome - Please remember that although the same ultralight philosophy can be used in all environments that the specific gear and skill required will vary greatly. It is very dangerous to assume that you can just copy someone else's gear list, but you are encouraged to ask questions, learn and start reducing the pack weight and enjoying the freedom that comes.

Common words
Base pack backpacking the mass of the backpack and the gear inside - not including consumables such as food, water and fuel
light backpacking base weight less than 9.1kg

Not sure if you were being funny or not Wayno but that's actually a good idea, I hadn't thought of doing that and it sure would avert an uncomfortable night or so finding out your bags not warm enough!

it was tongue in cheek, but if you can convince someone to let you use one for an hour, its a plan, any family or friends who work with cool stores?

I've just checked the Zpacks website and the roll top medium plus cuben dry bag(I gather it is this one I have?) weighs 27grams, you might be looking at the standard pull top bags?

I must have missed where you said you had a dry bag instead of normal stuff sack. That makes more sense. Zpacks specs their medium roll top at 24g. For comparison sake, the Sea to Summit silnylon dry bag I use for my sleeping bag on the occasions that I'm especially worried about keeping it dry weighs 42 grams on my scale.

Yeah sorry I just took it for granted that everyone knew that all Zpacks bags are supplied with roll top stuff sacks? Actually I'm glad you brought up the query as I didn't give it a thought they were that much heavier than the standard cuben stuff sacks? And as I almost always use a pack liner there is no need for a dry sack for the bag? I'll contact simonm and see if he has his cuben in yet?
Cheers.
