Weekend musings, I propose a new category to the global bushwalking/tramping/trekking/hiking community. Not really a new thing... Neo-paleo perhaps.

Eco-Phantom-light, being a sub 1001g base weight.

Close to living off the land, be it nature or bin diving!

A complete kit may include:

Pocket knife;
Water bottle;
PLB;
Snake bandage;
Wear suitable night layers and carry over the shoulder during the day;
Length of rope;
Map & compass (optional);
Carry bag or sac (optional).

So you just walk, find shelter, water & food


Disclaimer: do try this at home first!

This reads like really ultra-light bushcraft. It ultimately depends on damaging the environment to provide bedding, food and possibly shelter. Certainly something I won't be pursuing.

Bushcraft may be considered damaging, especially in our over populated world. I was thinking more of camp caves, log hollows etc as shelter for a night.

That kit is perfect Croll.

Those s2s packs actually carry ok with a bit of weight in them. I’ve been using one as a shopping bag for a bit. With the pad as a back panel it would be luxurious.

I’ve got mostly similar items to that list already. Might do an Eco-phantom overnighter. Everyone already thinks I’m weird enough carrying my “school bag” around.

Probably wise to include some mini first aid items too, like an all-purpose wound disinfectant.
