the deals showing one way from nz. but they take you to the booking page , and you can check what a return fare would be,. by changing the departure to aus. at least one way it will be cheap. thers $99 seats from qtown to melbourne early december, thats pretty cheap, i cant get there from auckland for that.

I booked flights Sydney direct to Queenstown 2 weeks ago with Air NZ (Flight over is Virgin, but booked via Air NZ)
Ended up being $840 return for 2 adults and an infant. Looking forward to getting over there again, Planning to run in the Northburn 100 (Only 50km option). That's going to hurt a little.
Direct to QT is great as if it's the area you are planning to be around it saves the long drive down from Christchurch.

oh, yeah and watch out for kiwi women, one of them was second overall, only 14 mins off the leader
