Routeburn track death

she probably stayed put because of the difficulty she had encountered up till then, not realising she was past the worst of the track and probably could have walked out.
there may have been no one else who ventured that far up the track after heavy snowfall.

Incredible how the place is deserted for a whole month. Thought there are always a few on these famed tracks.

"The fact that nobody was up there is certainly not unusual – if she was waiting for rescue from another party coming through she would have been very lucky."


I've seen multiple people commenting and expressing puzzlement about how on earth she wasn't spotted by other people on the track, but I've yet to see anyone come forward and claim they actually walked past that area during the time she was there.
