Suz, the pic showed a magentic declination of 11 degrees east. I've used this for decades, as it seems to be about right for most places I walk in. I just checked a few maps and they advise as follows:
1981 CMA Rules Point 1:25 has 11.4 degrees east
1883 Natmap Tantangara 1:100 has 13 degrees east
1984 Natmap Howitt 1:100 has 11.4 degrees east.
1986 Stewie Brookes Snowy Plains has 11 degrees east.
Can't find a more recent map, sorry. All say that the angle is increasing slowly. Given that I can only be accurate to within a few degrees, having 11 degrees is fine. May make it 12. Chapman has about 11 degrees, amount not cited.

I love science! The declination for the summit of Mt Bogong today is 10.666 degrees. Note that this is only for today on Mt Bogong, and may change with time, altitude, the phase of the moon and the GDP. I usually climb Bogong by following a track, how primitive.
