Blue Peaks and Middle Lake

Postby Davo1 » Thu 07 Feb, 2013 7:00 pm

Had an overnight trip to Middle Lake. Enjoyed it and was surprised by two things, how dry it is and considering that, how much green is still around.
Only seen 1 snake.
Not much of storyteller so I'll just post a few pics and hope you enjoy them.

Aha, now that I understand :-) Although, the wife and I did say yesterday on the way out that next time we'll take the 4wd because it was damn rough (only corrugations), the worst I've seen it in a long time and we do it fairly regularly. Certainly the 2wd was ok but no sense in bashing it when we don't have to.
I must say you had me wondering for a while, as the previous time in we followed the old 4wd track in, mostly overgrown now and wondered if at some stage eons ago there may have been some other vehicle track in apart from it.
Anyways we had a good time and the weather was nice, bit warm on Wednesday though and the scenery as always, wonderful.
Cheers.

I've been wondering, how many people get flat tyres, 2 or 4wd (!) in Lk Mackenzie carpark?

We noticed one car with a pancake flat after our walk last month, and one of my tyres ended up with a slow leak due to the snuggly embedded screw I probably picked up there. Did somebody do a dastardly deed up there, or was it just an unhappy coincidence?

There's been maintenance on stretches of the open channel in recent years.
That and probably other works may have contributed to screws and other puncturing objects.
I was rather taken by the predominance of 4WD's and thought you must have been on a rally with mates Davo.
Sure is a rattle trap of a road.
Probably shares the prize for most corrugated with last section to the Walls parking.

I would like to think and hope it was just a coincidence.
Personally, touch wood, we have never had any bad luck at any of the carparks, The lake, Gullet, WOJ, Oxley, Little Fisher, Maggs etc. but in saying that we have friends that have had their vehicles broken into.
Nothing recent though.
The worst we've had was a sharp stone through the tire coming back from Rinadeena just after they graded the road.
As you can see in the first pic there was quite a few cars there this time when we went in and the ones that were still there when came out were still intact, that's gotta be a plus.

Haha, Taswegian, we nearly didn't go in because of all those vehicles. All I can say is thank goodness we didn't run into all of the occupants. Not that we are unsociable but we sure like our piece and quiet.

If anyone reading this recognises their vehicle I mean no offence. :)
