Nice read. I always enjoy your photos SBS.

Now I can't wait until I'm happy to do the PoW's.

Just beautiful, Dan. It sends my soul soaring, as I do life away from the wilderness for a while. Hard to get the smile off my face, as I drink in places I'm still dreaming of, and am reminded of some very special memories of my own. Thank you. :D

Lovely photos. And the music fits the scenery too! And we now know who Misty myrtle belongs to as well :)

Sublime, SBS. A breath of fresh air for those of us who can't get back to Tasmania as often as we would like.

Oh so lovely SBS Dan. I love what you do and am glad to see how much you appreciate being able to do it. More power to your sore feet.

Hey thanks for the kind words everyone, if it wasn't for Lara hassling me I never would have done that. I'm getting excited ahead of another big season in the Tassie bush and hopefully some nice light :)

As the late Tony Greig would say "shot".

Or in this case Shots. Made my day SBS - great work.

And at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars.

...I come home with a little piece of ‘wild’ after each trip...

Yeah. I'm still clearing out all that 'wild' from my pockets.
... but I also leave a piece of myself out there each time...

MmmmmmHmmmm. Indeed. Blood. Sweat. Tears. A bit of skin here and there . . .

OK, enough smart-arsery. Lovely bit of work. You've turned into a pretty decent photographer. Of course, the talent was always there, it just needed the opportunity for expression. And you're making good use of it.
And helping take some of us to places our own feet will never tread. Thank you for that.

Yep, to the echo the many previous comments great work Dan. From a lesser photographer who nevertheless likes to keep trying thanks for giving me something to aspire to. :D

SBS on the ABC. Amazingly beautiful photographs and video. Thank you Dan for taking me to many wonderful places I may never reach. Your photography is an inspiration for me and I am sure many others on this site.

Thanks again :) the interesting thing that has come out of this is some of the reactions from people that don't know about remote Tasmania. They are blown away landscapes like this exist in Australia. The blog has been viewed nearly 3000 times now since Thursday and shared across countless social media sites. One I have been watching is the ABC NEWS facebook page which has enormous reach. Amongst the usual comments one sentiment was repeated several times and I quote a couple...

"In all the doom & gloom, this made my day. Thanks"

"It would be really great during these intense times to have more pictures of our beautiful landscape. Thanks ABC"

This made me smile for a very long time. I(and I assume many of you) bushwalk for that simple reason, to escape all the *&%$#! coming at us from every angle in the media, at work, or even in our personal lives. We are very fortunate to have this hobby that can recharge us and lift our spirits, but we make our own luck don't we?

I'm starting to appreciate the power of the image, still or moving, and the written word to help others 'make their own luck' and re-connect with the natural world. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is don't be shy about it, show your friends your favourite photos and talk about it to them, tell them what you get out of your hobby. Perhaps then a few more people will think about the consequences of interfering with wild places, and also receive the gift of 'getting out there'.

Better still take them on a bushwalk! Thanks again for the kind words :)
