Re: Some waterfalls of Tasmania(might take a while on 56k)

Random cruising on the weekend led me here, among many places, today.
I have driven past here many times while spending 12 years growing into a teenager at Highclere, but never knew about this waterfall, 50 metres from the road.

St Joseph's Falls at Tewkesbury. Not far from the Tewkesbury Casino and a short walk from the Tewkesbury wharf and Tewkesbury Tavern.
A nice little waterfall. It looks like it would get quite a lot of water over in peak season, but at the moment you can almost walk across the length of the River within half a metre of the water falling off.

Haha... brilliant. Yes, one does tend to wonder exactly what justification Tewkesbury has for being given a name in the first place! I seems like two houses and some cows to me.

On the falls. I was there one summer a few years ago after recent rain and those falls were making a big noise. It's a shame you can't get to the bottom of them.

Just a few more random falls that dont seem to have pictures up here yet.
Had water on the camera lens and camera is almost dead, but pictures still come out alright.
These 2 are withing 4 minutes of each other and about 6 minutes from Guide Falls near Ridgley and probably 10 minutes from the one I posted the other day.

St George's Falls couldn't really be seen too well. There wasnt much water coming over and a large cliff face scared me so this was as good as I could get it :P

Sanderson's Falls, however, is really a very pretty spot and very well worth a look. Everything was so green and moist, which is good 8) . I don't know where the actual track to Sanderson's is. But I think there is one.

Rinadeena / Little Fisher Falls last Saturday. The whole place was saturated (makes a nice change from bone dry)! Sorry about the over exposed falls :(

I happened to find myself at Nelson Falls on the Lyell Highway at Victoria Pass on Thursday just gone. It had a magnificent display - best I'd seen it.
I didn't have my camera though.
Also Franklin River was flowing quite well, and a track worker advised me it was about a foot higher 12 hours earlier.

St. Josephs Falls

Another shot of these falls which just north of the Tewkesbury Rd, on the corner as you pass the town sign when heading west. The co-ordinates on the List of Tasmanian Waterfalls are fairly accurate. If you walk down river from the road you might stubble over the falls (literally). There is a fire-break track along side the road (western side). This can be used as an access track to approach St Joseph's River below the falls. As you get close to the river the undergrowth is a thick tangle of blackberries, so you might like to take a Machete.

Pity. I don't know, driving around without a camera. Maybe you should buy a Sony C905 (8MP Phone)!

I have just done the overland track from 30th November to the 5 December, we had some pretty bad weather but with all the rain it made the waterfalls rage. I had no idea we had falls like this in Tassie, has made me want to travel around and see the other falls after looking at all these photos. My profile picture is of me under the D'alton falls on same trip.... I hope I haven't got the names back the front.

Myrtle Gully and Liffey were outstanding. Shame the earlier ones have been deleted already.
Here's a couple I took.

Hi all,

I had some more to add in the form of a video, so rather than prolong this old and huge thread, I started a new thread for it over here.

Had to go to Queenstown for work, then decided to take the long way home. A poor excuse I know - even going down the west coast is worthy of packing the camera...

Some impressive stuff there fellas and ladies. As someone else suggested - inspirational.
Also, does anyone know how to get to Regnan's Falls in the Styx Valley. I searched the road but couldn't locate the track.
Couple of others I shot while in Tassie.
Cheers, Ian
