MLD Cuben DuoMid with Bear Paw PyraNet 1

A place to chat about gear and the philosphy of ultralight. Ultralight bushwalking or backpacking focuses on carrying the lightest and simplest kit. There is still a good focus on safety and skill.
Forum rules
Ultralight Bushwalking/backpacking is about more than just gear lists. Ultralight walkers carefully consider gear based on the environment they are entering, the weather forecast, their own skill, other people in the group. Gear and systems are tested and tweaked.
If you are new to this area then welcome - Please remember that although the same ultralight philosophy can be used in all environments that the specific gear and skill required will vary greatly. It is very dangerous to assume that you can just copy someone else's gear list, but you are encouraged to ask questions, learn and start reducing the pack weight and enjoying the freedom that comes.

Common words

Looks great phil. What happened to the ookworks. I'm not the proud owner of a cuben duomid and a cuben pyranet with cuben extensions up the sides. Great little shelter

Good looking shelter - looks more practical than my Zpacks hexamid twin. Whilst I like the weight of my hexamid, I really don't like the uncovered door - I didnt get a beak on mine, and I also dont really like the draftiness of it. Whats the weight of the duomid and net?

Looks good Phil. I still have a pyramid tent on my 'to make' list.

Mic - I would like to know how many tents you have owned over the years :P.

So who has the cuben pyranet? I wouldn't mind talking about that.
Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful.

Still have the Ookworks Inner. I didn't have plans on purchasing another inner, but when I saw this one pop up on the for Sale list for $50.00, I had to grab it while I could. I'm happy I did, I feel it's a better size for the Duomid. The Ookworks is just a tad to large.

Looks the goods Phil and very like the MLD solo innernet that I got with mine, it's a great setup isn't it. The pyranet doesn't look like it has the clips half way up the walls that allow you to attach it to the fly for some more internal space though, how do you find sitting up in it?

Glad you like it phil :)

It worked great in my Trailstar, but it just wasn't quite optimal. Glad to see it's going to get some use in its home environment.

Didn't notice sny issues with sitting up inside the pyranet, I found theres enough room for myself. The pyranet sets up tight, theres no slack anywhere.
