Interesting picture on the Dove Lake webcam this morning.
Overnight there was a huge dump of snow.
Keep safe, warm and dry up there.

Wow!
It's been wettish down here, but not cold. No sign of snow on kunanyi (during the brief periods it was visible). They're obviously bearing the brunt of it up north. Again.

Strange to see Dove Lake and surrounds clear of snow this morning, however at nearby Great Lake it was a different story.
Southern end of the Overland track may have received some snow.

Heading for a white Christmas.
A cold snap overnight had snow settling on Cradle Mountain and Marion's Lookout.
Also settled around the Great Lake hotel.
There is an icy wind down on the coast.

Will be interesting to see if it does snow. 8)

From the Advocate

Snow is expected to fall in Tasmania this weekend while most of the nation swelters in a heatwave.

Nothing up the northern end of the state apart from cooler temperatures and strong winds.

Mt Mawson had some though

http://www.examiner.com.au/story/446204 ... n/?cs=5312

While the rest of the country sizzles through a heatwave, Tasmania has been experiencing snowfall.

Mount Mawson, in the Mount Field National Park, reported the summer snow via SnowSearch Australia’s webcams on Sunday.

It was an overcoat colder. The wind, though, on CP and Middlesex Plains, would have blown the milk from one's tea/ hops from yer beer :)
Some reprieve from the fire threat so far this summer, that 40+c temp range/mainland must be some sort of (ominous) record?

Snow is currently settling at the Great Lake Hotel,
so I guess the Western Tiers through to the Central Plateau, Cradle Mountain area will be white in the morning.
Certainly cold on the coast.
Keep warm
