Gas after hours?

Postby peteb_99 » Sun 13 Dec, 2015 10:49 am

Hi all.

Im going bush walking on the 18th of December and flying into Hobart at about 8pm. The plan is to drive straight to lake st Clair to do the Ducane range. Only problem is we need gas for our stoves and as far as I know all the hiking stores will be closed. Anyone got any ideas or Know of any shops that will be open late that sell gas?

Thanks
Pete

Phone the LSC visitors centre. They used to stock gas there but it's best to check in advance. Means you'd have to delay leaving Cynthia Bay until they're open the next morning, but you don't really have a lot of other options.

I am ten minutes from Hobart airport and have 4 cylinders available. These have been donated by other walkers. You are welcome to take what you need and return any that you don't use. Send me a Personal message and I can give you directions.

Agree completely! Last time, I didn't know what to do with our leftover and completely unused canisters when we left Hobart. It would have been good to know there was someone to drop them off to. Actually, it's a great idea for all of us... we can create a bushwalkers network of people near each major Aussie airport who can help those flying in and out bu plane. Go Tastrax!

Well it's that time of the year again when the shops shut and the occasional visitor needs after hours gas. My offer still stands and I still have some gas canisters so if you are arriving late or on Christmas Day just send me a PM and I can get you sorted.
Cheers - Phil

Hey is there someone in Launceston who does (or is open to doing) what tastrax does from Hobart? I'm flying out of Launceston tomorrow afternoon and have a can that's only made a couple of cups of coffee.

Saw your post too late to help out this time, but I am happy to help out for anyone going through Launceston in future. I always keep a few spare canisters and am happy to assist with recycling partially used ones for others. I'm only ten minutes from central Launceston and happy to meet up if a PM is sent as I then receive an email alert.
