My Sea to Summit goretex gaiters size M are showing wear but they have been holding up well. The new S2S versions are Event.

What size are Tasgear to match the Quagmire size M, and which version is best for variable terrain, not just wet but also rough terrain, burrs and seeds as well as the flippin snakes? :)

G'day Scotty just wanted to say my Tasgear gaiters have been great. Fit well, stay in position and I forget I'm wearing them! I walk in shoes and these cover them really well. Easy to open and check for sneaky leeches too.

I've also been happy with mine having used them a bit more now. I think I got 3 separate compliments about them at Pine Valley over Easter. :)

Hi Scotty.
Not a fan of gaiters but I do need a pair and yours are getting good feedback and look great as well.

Will the lightweight gaiters give good snake protection?
I notice the site has a pair of shoes matched with the lightweight gaiters. Will they work equally as well with a boot?

Cheers

Hi Scotty
well my Tasgear gaiters copped a flogging over summer and autumn, they have performed brilliantly. The cut is great, the fit is great, they are easy to get on and off and the tie under the gaiter which I suspected would give up on the dolorite has coped with kilometres of boulder hopping with nary a cut. Glad to hear they are serving you well.
It's funny how the areas that people thought (and so did I to start off with) would be a failure point.
The weak point still seems to be the front vertical strip stitching but there isn't much more I can do in this regard and the ongoing testing i'm doing show's it put up with alot before the need for repair.

How about a rear closure Scott?

I thought I was the only one who obsessed about rear closing gaiters. Welcome to the dark side.

re: the 'weak' point. The front stitching is still holding on on mine, although the folded edges outside the stitching have frayed to the point where that front panel is coming loose in a few spots. Still lasted waaaaay longer than anything else available. But, as Dan suggested, a rear closure would minimise that issue. It just makes shaping them properly more difficult.

Hi All
I will be giving Tasgear a break for a while. I have had some health concerns lately and I need to take some time to just focus on getting better.
I would like to thank everyone on this forum for their support and business, it's a great community on here. Hopefully in the future i'll get it going again.
Thanks

Good that you are focusing on your health Scott, hope you feel better soon. Bad timing for me though, was just thinking I should buy some of your lovely gaiters for the upcoming summer as my Cactus ones are starting to die. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a full return of Tasgear.

Hi Everyone
I'd like to thanks everyone for there well wishes and support over the past little while. I'm back!, or at least the gaiters are.....
The time has come for Tasgear to go back into production! That's right, the toughest gaiters in the world will be available again to the bushwalking community. The website should be live again so all systems go

Ripper! Great to hear you're back in shape.

My original pair need either a lot of repair work or replacement . . . actually, I'd settle for a bit of restitching and patching - there's still a bit of life left in them.

I like the look of these.

One question please, the dyneema cord looks like a good choice. But how tight in against the sole of the footwear does it hold up - and how can it be tensioned?

I wear trail runners - don't have the big heel step of boots. I need the underfoot cord to be pretty tight otherwise it is liable to snag things on the ground as I walk.

To nq111 question:
My gaiters came with a spare pair of the dyneema strings. I'm still on the first set. Think I made a knot adjustment in the beginning to suit my shoes. I have had a few sneaker type bushwalk shoes, currently Oboz. The gaiters and string fit fine, string looks squashed but no signs of it wearing out after many many kms.
