It's a fairly recognisable bit of rock. Given that I'll probably be heading out tomorrow I might assume the point and post a nice easy one now to make sure I don't leave you all hanging.

What's the name of the popular walk in an NT NP during which I took this shot?

Yep and yep (sorry for tardy response). Running up and down the sandunes around the back was one of my favourite memories as a kid.....

Righto since there are no other bites I'll try to take back off your hands. Been there heaps of times, mostly when I was a kid when I don't think there were many signposted or named tracks - so I don't know the name of the walk. A quick background check tells me that the area I think you are looking at could be from the now named Arankaia Walk?

NNW may be on a long trek - starting with Easter.
I would suggest MM posts next.
It seems to be from the Fink Gorge area of Palm Valley.
Not sure how many walks there would give this view?

MM hasn't logged on since his guess a week ago so to keep the game going I would suggest that anyone can post next.

Judging by the (telephoto) view of the Sydney skyline, you are west of Sydney. And the hills mean that you are west of the Nepean River - but not very far west, probably around Lapstone/Glenbrook. I'm going to guess Marges Lookout near Mitchells Pass.

Not Marges LO. You have the right line of thinking but further W/SW (quite a bit of zoom in this).

Not Mt Portal. You're on the right side of the highway but go further west.

Edit: I should add that the trees in the foreground are probably 50-100 metres from the named clifftop spot where I'm standing.

The clifftop spot is presumably Tunnel View Lookout. Which puts you due north of Mt Portal (but west of Mt Portal Lookout).

Sorry all, I should have said go northwest rather than west. That's what happens going from memory and not checking the map . However I am not anywhere in the Glenbrook precinct. This more than several kms further up the mountains. A short steep-ish walk into a small gorge/valley and across a water course. Similar climb up the other side to this spot. Probably an hour's walk from the track head at a relaxed pace.

Thanks tyreless. I haven't been to Asgard Head, but it was clearly the Grose River and a perusal of a contour map strongly pointed to Asgard Head.

Mine is still in NSW I'm afraid. Apologies to people who are only familiar with other states. We've had quite a lot of NSW photos recently./

For this one, either "where is it" or "where was the photo taken from" will do as answers.
