Wade, if it's any consolation, you are not alone in having done that horrible slog down and up Nobs Tk. I met a walker a few weeks ago near The Nobs who made that same diversion, unaware of its steepness and doing it after sunset. He had no knowledge of course of the even more horrible blackberries infesting the creek. Somehow negotiated them by torchlight. But all of those considerations paled into insignificance when he started thinking on the way back to his pack left beside the track that just maybe he might not find it on that moonless night. He described that as a typical rookie error, which naturally he's never going to make again.
