[FS ACT SOLD] Zpacks Cuben / DCF Tarp

Postby tom_b » Thu 12 Jul, 2018 8:24 pm

Hi all,

Selling a used 0.51oz/sqyd Zpacks Cuben Fiber (now DCF) 203cmx265cm (6.7x8.7ft) tarp $200. These are one of the lightest, fully waterproof, tarps available in the world. The tarp (without guylines) weighs 114g.

The tarp is in excellent condition and comes as the tarp only (no guylines).

Will post at buyers expense.

I'm a little confused.

I don't remember zPacks doing an 8' x 5' tarp. Its an odd size. Not on their website currently, that's for sure. And 0.5 oz is VERY light, even for cuben - their current 7' x 9' is 5.2oz.

Have you got those specs right?

Zpacks uses .51 oz/sqyd DCF as a standard on their shelters. I believe that’s what Tom is referring to and not the total weight of the shelter, jdeks.

I’d be keen to find out the correct size of the tarp as well.

Hi guys sorry for the confusion!

Yes it is the 0.51oz/sqyd standard DCF they use. It has their old logo on it so it is from a while ago. Before they went 'mainstream' (if you could call it that), they used to make tarps in most sizes (even in sizes that aren't listed on the website). Kind of like how they used to make the Zero with a bunch of options. Now it is just the Nero...

I got the ruler out to measure it for sizing and I measured it at 203cmx265cm which is 6.7x8.7ft. I got my scale out an measured 114g. I'll update the ad.

Hi tom

Thanks for the clarification. So how old would you say this tarp is?

In terms of when it was manufactured, no idea. In terms of how much use... I used it one night. I don't know how many nights the person before me used it for, but it hasn't been used heaps. There is no fraying anywhere. I have a hexamid with <10 days use and I can't tell the difference in the cuben (but I also have a Duplex with 100+ days use and it also looks the same...). The corners have the distinctive look of a used sewn tarp where it looks slightly loose (but I rigged it up as tight as I could when I bought it and it was perfect, same as my duplex and hexamid).

Hope that helps!
